Some benefits are that people will be more likely to shop with you if you have a clear Shipping Policy in place since there won't be any questions about your shipping timeframes or processes. You'll get to save time by not having to answer individual customer emails asking about your shipping policies.

A refund policy is not required by law like a privacy policy. However, almost all retail companies offer some form of refunds or returns because it creates fairness (e.g. if a product is defective) and builds trust between a seller and a buyer. It is considered a best business practice to offer returns and refunds, and customers may or may not choose to shop at your store based on your refund policy.
Cancellation / Return / Exchange Policy
Return policies are the rules a retailer creates to manage how customers return and exchange unwanted merchandise they purchased. A return policy tells customers what items can be returned and for what reasons, and the timeframe over which returns are accepted.
Why have a return policy? Getting a return request can be painful both financially and emotionally.
Refunding a customer’s order can result in a loss of profitability, and knowing that someone disliked your product can be disheartening for business owners who strongly believe in the benefits of what they sell.
For these reasons, it can be tempting to ignore the reality of returns and exchanges and leave the mounting problem unaddressed.
